About This Site
Who runs this site
This site is run by one individual who lives in Sapporo, Hokkaido, in northern Japan. I do not publish my real name or a photo on this site.
Sister sites
This site is one of four small English guides to Sapporo written by the same Sapporo resident. The others are Sapporo Insider Guide (seasonal preparation), A Local’s Guide to Sapporo (neighborhoods and day trips), and Sapporo from Inside (the city’s seasons and festivals).
Not affiliated
This site is not affiliated with any company, organization, school, or operator. It is not an official source, and it does not speak for anyone. Names of places and services appear only so that I can explain how things work.
What this site covers
- Getting around: how to ride the subway, streetcar, and buses
- Snow and seasons: the rules and routines of a snowy city
- Etiquette and signs: everyday manners and how to read common signs
- Money and payments: cash, cards, IC cards, and other ways to pay
Why English, Japanese, and Korean
Many people visit or live in Sapporo from other countries, and I want to explain how things work in plain words. The English pages are the original. The Japanese and Korean pages are translations, and the wording may differ slightly. If something looks different, please treat the English page as the original and check official sources.

- No personal stories. I explain what I have researched. I do not write made-up stories.
